The owners of a 2005 Toyota Camry contacted the San Luis Obispo Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The SLO PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short time later, investigators from the California Highway Patrol SLOCATT (San Luis Obispo County Auto Theft Task Force), picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the portable LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are assigned to their unit. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigators tracked the Toyota to a motel parking lot in the area of the 101 freeway and Madonna Road.

The Toyota was recovered and impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in October 2004 at Crown Toyota in Ontario, California.
