LoJack® System Helps Kern County Sheriff’s Department Recover Ford Mustang

The owner of a 2007 Ford Mustang contacted the Kern County Sheriff’s Department to report that his vehicle was stolen by a known suspect. The Kern County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.
About three hours after the LoJack was activated, a deputy from the Kern County SD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC’s) that are installed in police vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputy tracked the Ford to the 200 block of Beardsley Avenue in Bakersfield. The deputy spotted the Ford in the driveway of a residence and observed two adult females standing next to it. The females were contacted and one was identified as the person named by the car owner as one that had stolen the Ford. The female was questioned and subsequently arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property. The second female was released at the scene as she was not involved.
The Ford was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the scene.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Mustang in August 2007 by Jim Burke Ford in Bakersfield, California.
