The owner of a 2012 Mercedes Benz GL4 contacted the Glen Ridge Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen from his driveway in Glen Ridge. The owner told the police that he last saw the Mercedes Benz before he went to bed and when he woke up in the morning it was gone. The owner also called the LoJack Call Center to notify LoJack of the theft.

The Glen Ridge PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes Benz.

A short while later, officers from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal coming from the stolen Mercedes Benz with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mercedes to an auto repair shop on Elizabeth Street in the City of Irvington. The officers observed two suspects removing the license plates and tinting the windows in an attempt to alter the vehicle’s appearance. The Mercedes was recovered and the two suspects were taken into custody.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2012 Mercedes Benz GL4 in August 2014 at Prestige Motors in Paramus, New Jersey.
