The owners of a 2011 Toyota Camry contacted the Philadelphia Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from a parking space located in the area of 21st and Pine Streets in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Philadelphia Police Radio dispatched an officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the vehicle owner and then surveyed the area for the stolen Toyota. When the officer could not locate the Toyota, the officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and arranged for the information to be entered onto the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later officers from the Philadelphia PD south division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the signal to the area of East Passyunk Avenue where the Toyota was observed parked at the curb. Officers cautiously approached the Toyota and determined that same was unoccupied.

The Toyota was confiscated for safekeeping and the owner was notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2011 Toyota Camry in August 2010 at Ardmore Toyota in Pennsylvania.
