The owner of a 2008 Ford F-350 dump truck last saw their truck the day before. In the morning they contacted the Broward County Sheriff’s Office to report that their Ford was stolen sometime during the night. The responding deputy prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.

Later that afternoon an Auto Theft Task Force investigator picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen F-350 on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The investigator began tracking the stolen Ford by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The investigator located the Ford abandoned parked on the north side of S.W. 25th Street just west of State Road 7. As it was Miramar Police Department’s jurisdiction, they responded to the scene. The dump truck was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping and processing and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2008 Ford F-350 dump truck in June 2008 at Maroone Ford of Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
