The owners of a 2011 Toyota Tacoma contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Department to report their vehicle was stolen from their residence by an acquaintance.
The OCSD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Only 7 minutes later officers from several Orange County agencies, including Anaheim Police Department’s airship Angel, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, airship Angel tracked the Toyota to a motel in the city of Orange. Airship Angel contacted the Orange Police Department and had patrol officers respond to the motel. The Orange PD officers arrived at the location with a photo of the suspect and contacted the motel manager. As the officers were speaking with the manager one of the officers saw the suspect walking away from the motel. The officers detained the suspect and found her in possession of the stolen Toyota’s keys. The officers obtained permission to search the suspect’s room and found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the room. The suspect was arrested for the theft of the Toyota and drug related charges. The undamaged Toyota was recovered.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Tacoma in September 2010 at Puente Hills Toyota in Industry California.
