The owners of a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta contacted the Escondido Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen in the city of Escondido.
The Escondido PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Volkswagen.

Within 30 minutes of the activation, officers from the San Diego Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Volkswagen with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Volkswagen to a residential neighborhood located near the 100 block of University Ave. in the city of San Diego. The Volkswagen was found abandoned and undamaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Volkswagen Jetta in November 2014 at Mossy Volkswagen in Escondido, California.
