The manager of a major car rental agency called the East Brunswick Police Department in New Jersey to report that his rental agency had been scammed out of a vehicle.

Two males entered his business under the premise of renting a car; they presented identification as well as credit cards to complete their transaction. They then left with the BMW which luckily was equipped with the LoJack® System.  After they left, the manager of the rental agency started doing an investigation of his own. He found out that the credit card that was used to make the transaction was apparently stolen.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

A short while later, some 50 miles away, officers from the New York Police Department 32 precinct, Harlem, picked up the silent signal from the BMW on their LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They followed the directional and audible cues from the PTC that led them to the confines of the 26 precinct Manhattan. They tracked the signal into a residential area of Manhattan, narrowed the signal down, and located the BMW that apparently was occupied and moving. They pulled the BMW over and arrested the individuals without incident.

The BMW was recovered in excellent condition. The manager of the business was notified and he was elated that the BMW was recovered so quickly with the use of LoJack. He further stated that he was extremely happy that his company had purchased LoJack when they bought the BMW.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2015 BMW 740i in September 2015 via Commercial Sales in Linden, New Jersey.
