LoJack® System Helps Tacoma Police Department Recover a Stolen Toyota Tacoma

The owner of this Toyota Tacoma pickup started the truck and left it running on the street in front of his residence. An opportunistic thief took advantage of the situation and drove off with it.

The theft was immediately reported to the Tacoma Police Department. The Tacoma PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Just three minutes later, a Tacoma PD officer received the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Toyota was located in the 5700 block of Swan Creek Drive in Tacoma. It was abandoned and apparently undamaged.

The Toyota was released to the owner who purchased it as a used vehicle and was not aware it was equipped with LoJack.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Tacoma in November 2006 at Tustin Toyota in California.
