The owner of a 2011 BMW 328 contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen.  The BMW was reported stolen from an apartment complex in the area of San Mateo and Montgomery in the Northeast Area Command.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Within a short time of the activation, a vehicle equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the Albuquerque PD Officers and Auto Theft Detectives entered the area to locate the BMW.  Officers located the stolen BMW at an apartment complex parking lot that was not visible from the street in the area of Utah and Trumbull in the Southeast Area Command.  The BMW was found parked, unoccupied, unlocked and missing its license plate.  The BMW was processed for evidence, towed from the scene for safekeeping and will be released to the owner at a later time.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 328 in August 2011 by BMW of San Diego in California.
