LoJack® System Helps San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen Acura Integra

The owners of a 2001 Acura Integra contacted the Colton Police Department to report that their Acura Integra was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura.
A short while later deputies from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Victorville area picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Acura with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the Acura to the area of 12000 block of Amirposa Rd where a deputy observed the vehicle parked at a local motel. A surveillance was initiated and within 5 minutes, a female was observed entering the Acura and drove off. Deputies deployed on the Acura taking the driver suspect and a male passenger into custody without further incident. The field investigation revealed the male passenger was a “Parolee at Large.” He was arrested in addition to the driver being charged with the theft of the Acura and possession of a controlled substance. The undamaged Acura was stored for safe keeping.
