The owners of a Honda Civic contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen in the city of San Diego.

The San Diego PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later officers from the San Diego PD Helicopter unit picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to the 2600 block of Willow Street in San Diego.  The air unit directed the ground units and after a short foot pursuit the driver was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in June 1996 by Pacific Honda in San Diego, California.
