The owners of a 2007 BMW 328 contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Within less than an hour from the activation, flight officers from the Pasadena Police Department Air Support picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the BMW from the Glendora area to the city of La Verne notifying ground units of the tracking. Units from the La Verne Police Department responded to the area of Fruit St and the 210 Freeway and located the BMW on Baseline east of Fruit.  Upon arrival, they observed two juveniles exiting the BMW and deployed on the subjects taking them into custody without further incident.  During a field investigation, the officers learned that the juveniles had been in Hollywood and happened upon this BMW noting the keys in the vehicle.  Both subjects were processed and detained in Juvenile Hall.  The undamaged BMW was stored pending release to the victim.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 328 in July 2007 by Weatherford BMW in Berkeley, CA.
