The owners of a 2003 Ford F350 pickup contacted the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.  The Ford F350 was taken with the keys from a secured lot in Litchfield, Arizona.

The Maricopa County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later troopers from the Arizona Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the Ford to the area of Interstate 10 and Elliot Road in Tempe.

The trooper located the stolen Ford F350 pickup unoccupied in the parking lot of a restaurant.  After a short surveillance and follow up investigation, the Ford was recovered and processed for evidence.  There was minor damage to the left front fender and it appeared that the Ford was recently involved in a collision.  The Ford was towed from the scene for safe keeping and later returned to the owners.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F350 in February 2006 by Moss Brothers Ford in Colton, California.
