LoJack® System Helps Sacramento Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen Toyota Corolla

The owners of a 2011 Toyota Corolla contacted the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim stated they were going to sell the Toyota and a suspect entered into an agreement to purchase it. The suspect gave a check for the Toyota which later turned out to be bad. Other information supplied by the suspect also turned out to be false. The victim tried to get the Toyota back but was unable to locate the suspect or the vehicle.
The Sacramento SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Corolla.
Just 60 minutes later deputies from the Sacramento SD and the Sacramento Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to the area of Auburn Blvd and Watt Ave. The officers observed the Toyota being driven and conducted a felony traffic stop. The driver was identified and taken into custody without incident. The driver was booked for embezzlement and receiving stolen property.
The victim was contacted and arrived to take possession of his now recovered Toyota.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla in August 2014 by Livermore Toyota in California.
