Jacksonville Officers Quickly Recover Stolen Honda Civic with Only Minor Damage

On the morning of February 2, 2012 the owner of a 2006 Honda Civic discovered the vehicle missing from the parking lot of his apartment complex where he had parked the previous night. The victim immediately contacted the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to report the theft.
The responding deputy completed a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Honda’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Less than three hours later, an officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in his department vehicle. Using the directional and signal strength indicators on his tracking unit, he was able to quickly locate the Civic, parked behind a shopping area in the northwest area of the city.
The vehicle was recovered with minimal damage and returned to the very happy owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda Civic at the owner’s request in March 2006.
