The owners of a 2007 Toyota Corolla called the Berkeley Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from a public parking lot in Berkeley, California.

The Berkeley PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A few hours later , the San Francisco Police Department and the California Highway Patrol San Francisco picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the CHP-San Francisco tracked the Toyota to the Downtown Civic Center area of San Francisco where the stolen Toyota was parked abandoned on the street across from the Main County Jail.  The owners of the undamaged Toyota were contacted to recover their vehicle.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla in October 2007 by North Hollywood Toyota in Los Angeles, CA.
