The owner of a 2014 Acura RDX contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of San Diego.

The San Diego Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura. A short while later deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Acura with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Acura to a residential area near the 1300 block of Santa Fe Avenue in Vista. A high risk stop was initiated after the deputies observed three suspects in the Acura. The driver was taken into custody for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, possession of controlled substance and violation of probation for a previous vehicle theft charge. The passengers were released.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Acura RDX in May 2013 at Acura of Escondido in California.
