LoJack® System Helps Houston Police Department Recover Stolen 2014 Melroe T750 Track Skid Steer

The owners of a 2014 Melroe skid steer contacted the Houston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their construction site on West Tidwell during the weekend period. The unit had been parked in the middle of the work site at the end of the work day Saturday and was missing on Monday.
The Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the State and Federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Melroe skid steer.
A short while later officers from the Houston PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Melroe skid steer with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the skid steer to a residential area on Phillips West of Mount Houston Street. At that location they observed a building on a lot next to a residence and located the skid steer inside. Officers discovered a stolen 2007 Ford F150 with a 20 ft. utility trailer attached that was reported stolen to the Houston PD and a Ford F350 frame reported stolen from Baytown. The skid steer was taken to the Houston PD impound until the owner could be notified. All other vehicles were stored at the Dart lot pending release to owners.
The property owner will be investigated and expected to be arrested after evidence presented to a Grand Jury.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Melroe skid steer in September 2014 for a commercial dealer.
