The owners of a 2007 Nissan Versa contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the apartment complex parking lot.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

A short while later officers from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Nissan to a parking lot of a fast food restaurant near 7th Street and Dunlap Avenue.

Officers observed that the Nissan was not occupied and set up surveillance.  A few minutes later, undercover auto theft detectives observed the suspect get into the stolen Nissan and drive away.  The undercover detectives followed the Nissan to a neighborhood near Central Avenue and Hatcher Road where the suspect was taken into custody without incident.  The Nissan was recovered and processed for evidence. The Nissan was later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Versa in April 2007 at Midway Nissan in Phoenix, Arizona.
