Ford F150 Pickup Truck Stolen and Recovered on the Same Day in San Antonio

On March 7, 2012, the owners of a 2006 Ford F150 pickup discovered their vehicle had been stolen and immediately filed a theft report with the San Antonio Police Department. After all the pertinent information was gathered, San Antonio officers entered the vehicle’s information into the state and national law enforcement’s stolen vehicle computer system. This routine action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owners nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Later that day, officers from the San Antonio Department received the silent homing signals from the stolen pickup on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol cars. The officers then queried the LoJack “Reply Code” appearing on the PTC display screens on the police stolen vehicle computer system, and received both confirmation that the signals were coming from the Ford pickup reported stolen earlier, and a full description of the vehicle. Officers are then given directional and signal strength information by the PTC. Following these cues, the officers quickly located the pickup parked and abandoned on a public street. The vehicle was returned to the grateful owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Ford pickup at the original owner’s request in August 2006.
