The owners of a 2012 Melroe Bobcat discovered that their construction equipment was stolen from a job site in Hayward California.

The Hayward Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Bobcat.

Early the next morning the Alameda County Auto Theft Task force officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Bobcat with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, officers located the stolen Bobcat hidden in the rear of a small construction company building in Oakland, California.  An arrest was made for Receiving Stolen Property.  A stolen trailer was also recovered that was not protected with the LoJack® System.  The owners of the Bobcat were notified of the recovery and responded to Oakland to retrieve their property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2012 Melroe Bobcat in September 2014.
