LoJack® System Helps Recover 2008 Toyota Solara Stolen During a Carjacking

The owner of a 2008 Toyota Solara contacted the Sacramento Sheriff’s Rancho Cordova area to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim indicated she was driving on a residential street, when she was flagged down by an Asian male. She stopped to offer assistance and the male produced a handgun, pointed it at her and demanded the Toyota. She exited the Toyota and the suspect fled in the now stolen Toyota.
The Sacramento Sheriff’s verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.
Just over an hour later, deputies from the Rancho Cordova office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota to the area of Chrysanthy and Amatolia Streets where they observed it parked and abandoned on the street.
The Toyota was processed for prints to be released to the owner later.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Solara in August 2009 at Folsom Lake Toyota in California.
