- recovery stories
The owner of a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette contacted the Lake County Sheriff’s Police (LKSP) to report that his vehicle had been stolen from his driveway in the 25000 block of W Monaville in Lake Villa Illinois. The victim provided responding LKSP with information on his vehicle stolen. LKSP after verifying information entered the Corvette into LEADS and NCIC state and national crime computer as stolen.
A short while later, officers from both Round Lake Heights Police Department and the LKSP picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Corvette on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the Corvette to its location on the 1400 block of Maple in Round Lake Beach. The LKSP investigation into this vehicle theft and recovery continues.
The Corvette was recovered in a little over one hour, undamaged and returned to a grateful owner. The Corvette was recovered before it could be stripped, cloned, re-tagged, or used in a crime.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Corvette at Rockenbach Chevrolet in Grays Lake, Illinois, in March 2006.
