LoJack® System Helps Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force Recover Stolen Nissan Pathfinder

The owners of a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of their apartment complex. The keys were missing and the owners believed that someone took the keys from inside their apartment.
The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.
Four minutes later, the Highway Patrol officers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Nissan to a motel parking lot near I-17 and Yorkshire Drive in north Phoenix.
The stolen Nissan was found unoccupied. The Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force detectives were contacted and responded to the area. Surveillance was conducted on the stolen Nissan with negative results. The Nissan was later recovered and processed for evidence. The battery had been disconnected and the stereo had been removed from the Nissan. The Nissan was towed from the scene for safekeeping and later returned to the owner.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Pathfinder in January 2007 at West Valley Nissan in Glendale, Arizona.
