LoJack® System Assists Vacaville Police Recover Stolen Honda Civic and Arrest Suspects

The owners of a 1998 Honda Civic contacted the Vacaville Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim stated they were attending a movie at the local cinema complex and when they came out the Honda was missing.
The Vacaville PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda Civic.
Less than an hour later, officers from the Vacaville PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to the area of I-80 and Orange Drive. Officers then noted the Honda appeared to be headed N. 505 at I-80 per the PTC. Officers then observed the Honda being driven northbound and conducted a felony stop and took two suspects into custody without incident. It appears the suspects used a “shaved key” to enter and steal the Honda.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in June 1998 at Honda of Pasadena in California.
