During the early afternoon hours the owner of a 1995 Nissan 200SX discovered the vehicle had been stolen from West Valley City, Utah.  The owner immediately contacted the West Valley City Police Department who verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

Shortly after noon, officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department began picking up the silent LoJack signal from the LoJack® System installed on stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, police quickly tracked the Nissan into the area of 200 North between Main and West Temple. The suspect drove off in the Nissan trying to evade the officers. The officers continued to track and within minutes located the Nissan hastily abandoned by the suspect near 600 North 340 West. The officers recovered evidence in the Nissan linked to several auto burglaries. This same Nissan was stolen and recovered twice before using the 19 year old LoJack® System in Murray Utah in October 2010 and again in February 2011.

The LoJack® System was installed on the Nissan in August 1995 at Antelope Valley Nissan in Antelope Valley, California.
