The owners of a 2007 Ford Mustang contacted the Dekalb County Police Department to report that his vehicle was taken from his home his work during the day while he was at work.

The Dekalb County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mustang.

Within a short time of the LoJack activation the Dekalb County Air unit equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) began to pick up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mustang with the LoJack PTC that were installed in the police helicopter.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the helicopter pilot tracked the Mustang to a shopping center where it was found parked in the lot. The air unit called the officers and the helicopter pilot directed them in to the stolen Mustang.  After a check of the area the officer had the Mustang towed to a local towing company. The officer suspected that it may have been left there to cool off before moving on to a chop shop or transported out of the country.

The owner did not know that his Mustang was equipped with a LoJack tracking unit but was very glad that it did.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2007 Ford Mustang in November 2007.
