The owners of a 2013 Kia Optima were warming up their new car at their home in Pueblo and had even locked the doors as a precaution against it being stolen.  They then went back into the house for a few minutes only to discover moments later that thieves had broken into the Kia and stole it.

They notified the Pueblo Police Department right away and once the theft had been verified by officers the vehicle information was entered into the state and federal crime computers.  This action automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Kia.

Just minutes later officers with the Pueblo PD were picking up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Kia Optima with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked and recovered the Kia near 12th and West Streets in Pueblo.  The Kia had been abandoned by the thief who then went on to steal another vehicle in that area which had been left unattended and warming up.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Kia Optima at the request of these owners less than two months ago.
