The owner of a 2014 BMW 328D contacted the Carlsbad Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from his residence in the city of Carlsbad.

Carlsbad PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® transponder concealed in the BMW.

A short while later, officers from Carlsbad PD picked up the silent signals from the LoJack® System  installed in the stolen BMW 328D with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to a residential area at the 1000 block of South Cleveland Blvd. in the city of Oceanside.

The LoJack® Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the BMW 328D on January 21, 2014 in Escondido California.
