In this case, the LoJack® system helps law enforcement in Fontana, CA recover a stolen Honda CBR600 motorcycle, as well as several other vehicles, break up a suspected theft ring, and take two suspects into custody.

On June 6th, 2014, the Honda’s owners contacted the Santa Bernardino Sheriff’s Department to report that their motorcycle was stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the motorcycle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the CBR600, which was installed at Bert’s Mega Mall in Covina, CA.

Just a few minutes later, a Fontana PD officer and an air unit picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen motorcycle on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicles. The Honda’s signal led the police to Reed Street, where the officer requested backup. Additional units and detectives responded to the location and set up a perimeter around a group of garages. Two men drove up in a vehicle with a trailer containing four quads. The suspects opened the garage and were removing three motorcycles, including the stolen Honda. All the motorcycles and quads were identified as stolen. Both suspects were taken into custody. Along with the other machines, the CBR600 was retrieved and soon returned to its rightful owner.
