The owner of a Toyota Corolla was doing a little shopping at a mall in Metairie, LA on a recent Saturday. It wasn’t until she was ready to leave that she realized she had dropped her keys in the lot. Unfortunately, someone else found them and had taken off in her car. The LoJack® system that was installed when the vehicle was purchased proved its value by helping local law enforcement recover the Corolla later that same day.

On May 31st, 2014, the Toyota’s owner reported the crime to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Autoland Toyota in Springfield, NJ.

A short while later, patrol officers from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their police vehicles. The Toyota was found parked and abandoned on a street in River Ridge. The Corolla was in great shape and was soon returned to its appreciative owner.
