The LoJack® system’s main objective is to assist law enforcement in the fast and safe retrieval of stolen cars, trucks, vans and motorcycles. In some instances, there are other benefits as well. In this case, police assisted by LoJack not only recovered a Toyota Camry taken from its owners’ residence the same day it was stolen but took a suspect into custody as well.

On May 20th, 2014, the Toyota’s owners contacted the Costa Mesa Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Toyota of Cerritos, CA.

A short while later, officers from Costa Mesa PD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the Toyota parked and unoccupied in a public lot. After a brief surveillance, a suspect entered the car and was detained by police. The Camry was soon returned to its relieved owners.
