A Toyota Corolla was stolen in Miami, FL, on a recent Monday. Its owner had parked the car in front of a business, and, upon her return three hours later, discovered that it was missing. Local police, assisted by the LoJack® system concealed inside the vehicle, were able to recover it that same day.

On May 9th, 2014, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Maroone Toyota in Davie, FL.

Later that afternoon, a Miami-Dade PD Robbery Intradiction Detail officer picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The Toyota was located parked and abandoned near N.W. 50th Street and 26th Avenue. Officers retrieved the Corolla and soon returned it to its thankful owner.
