The Volkswagen Golf in this case was discovered missing in Riverside, CA on a recent Friday. Thanks to the excellent work of local law enforcement, with help from the LoJack® system hidden in the vehicle, it was recovered less than an hour after activation.

On May 16th, 2014, the Volkswagen’s owner contacted the Riverside Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Golf, which was installed at Volkswagen of Santa Monica, CA, was then automatically activated.

Just a few minutes later, officers from the Long Beach PD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The VW was located in an alley in Long Beach with two occupants. After questioning, the driver, who was found to have an active warrant, was taken into custody. The Golf was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
