California Police Recover Honda Accord Taken in Armed Carjacking with Help from the LoJack® System

On a recent Saturday, the owner of a Honda Accord in Los Angeles, CA was stopped at a service station when he noticed a relative sitting on a nearby bus bench and walked over to say hello, leaving his car running and unlocked. Suddenly, a woman jumped into his car’s driver’s seat. When the victim attempted to pull her out, a male suspect approached with a gun, jumped in the Accord, and drove off with the female. The LoJack® system that was installed in the car helped local law enforcement recover it and capture the thieves later that same day.
On April 26th, 2014, the Honda’s owner contacted police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Accord, which was installed at Pasadena Honda in Pasadena, CA.
A short while later, flight officers picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their helicopter. After locating the vehicle, the flight crew notified ground units who responded and caught up to the Honda as it was parking on Olympic Blvd. The suspects were exiting the vehicle and were taken into custody. The undamaged Accord was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
