Recovery: West Valley City Police Department, West Valley City, Utah

The owners of a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe contacted the West Valley City Police Department to report their vehicle stolen from the 4900 block of Royal Ann Dr. The owners had started the Chevrolet to warm it up and left it running and unoccupied while going back into their residence. When they returned to use the Chevrolet, they found it missing so they notified the police. West Valley City Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Six minutes later officers from West Valley City Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the 2900 block of Minuet where they found the Chevrolet mobile and occupied by several individuals.

Officers attempted to stop the Chevrolet and the driver drove a short distance at a high rate of speed then all of the occupants exited the Chevrolet and fled in different directions. The Chevrolet, which had been left running by the offenders, was recovered by police and returned to owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Tahoe in April 2010 at Enterprise, Fairfax, Virginia.
