The Florida owners of a Subaru Legacy who were visiting Colorado discovered their vehicle stolen from their motel in Castle Rock. Welcome to Colorado! A Castle Rock police officer verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine action automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Subaru.

A short while later officers with the Aurora Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signals from the stolen Subaru with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from their PTCs, the officers quickly tracked and located the stolen Legacy in the 1800 South Granby Street. The vehicle was recovered and returned to the relieved vacationers with a not-too-happy experience.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Subaru Legacy in Jan 1997 at McGloin Buick Inc., at the request of the first owner of the car. Twenty-two years later LoJack helped law enforcement put the current owners of the car back on the road.
