The owner of a 2016 Ford F-150 pickup contacted the Austin Police Department to report his vehicle stolen. The owner parked his vehicle in front of his house and when he returned to it found it missing. The owner had hidden a spare key in the left rear wheel well.
The Austin Police Department verified the
theft and entered the vehicle information
into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford pickup.
A short while later officers from the Austin Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford pickup with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Ford pickup to the 1500 block of Wickersham Lane where they found it abandoned in an apartment parking lot. The Ford pickup was recovered in good condition.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F-150 pickup in August 2018 at Leif Johnson Ford in Austin, TX.
