The owners of a Mitsubishi Galant contacted the Chula Vista Police Department to report their vehicle stolen in the city of Chula Vista. Chula Vista Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mitsubishi.

Within 21 minutes, officers from National City Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mitsubishi Galant with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the 80th block of Oak Lawn Avenue in the city of Chula Vista.  A traffic stop was made; one suspect was taken into custody for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mitsubishi Galant in September 1999 at Miller Mitsubishi, Van Nuys, California.
