The owners of a 2018 Dodge Charger contacted the Downey Police Department to report their vehicle stolen by fraudulent means.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge Charger.

A short while later officers from LAPD Hollywood Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge Charger with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to a fast food restaurant and located the unoccupied vehicle parked in the parking lot.  Assisting officers arrived and set up surveillance on the vehicle.  A few minutes passed when the officers noticed two females enter and drive off.

Officers conducted a “Felony” traffic stop Vine St and Leland Way taking two females into custody without further incident. The field investigation resulted in identifying the driver as the fraudulent purchaser days prior, and the passenger as not being involved in the theft. Police investigation continues with charges to be filed later.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Charger in December 2017 at Champion Dodge, Downey, CA.
