The owners of a 2009 Volkswagen Bug contacted the Inglewood Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Volkswagen.

A short while later officers from LAPD Wilshire Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Volkswagen Bug with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to 4800 block pf Pico Blvd and observed the vehicle parked containing one male adult.  Officers approached the vehicle taking the lone occupant into custody without further incident.  When questioned, the suspect related that he borrowed the vehicle from a friend.  Officers arrested this suspect and transported him to the Wilshire station for booking.

While at the station the owner was contacted who related his son left the car unattended with the keys in the vehicle. Case referred to Detectives for any follow up and filing of complaint.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Volkswagen Bug in January 2010, by Direct Sales.
