The owner of a 2016 Hyundai Sonata contacted the University of New Mexico Police Department and the LoJack Call Center to report their vehicle was stolen.  The owner advised the Hyundai was stolen from a parking lot on the UNM campus.  The UNM PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Hyundai.

Approximately thirthy minutes after the activation, deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Albuquerque Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Hyundai with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Officers initiated tracking of the Hyundai’s LoJack signal.

The officers tracked the Hyundai to a residential area of Kirby and Indian School.  The Hyundai was located parked and unoccupied.  The Hyundai was processed for evidence at the recovery scene and will be released back to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Hyundai Sonata in September 2017 at Enterprise Auto Sales in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
