The owners of a 2018 GERC towable generator contacted the Commerce City Police Department to report their equipment stolen from a construction site. A police officer verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers.  This routine action automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Generac generator.

A short while later deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen generator with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from their PTCs, the deputies tracked the stolen generator to a fenced in storage lot near 104th Avenue and Florence Street.

The generator was found concealed between a trailer and a dump truck in such a manner that only if one of these vehicles was moved out could the generator have been moved in.  It was also covered in a black tarp.

The generator was recovered undamaged and returned to the very happy owner’s on-scene.

Detectives are following up on leads and the case remains an active investigation.

The LoJack® System was installed in the generator at the request of the current owners as a commercial installation in Colorado.
