LoJack System Helps New York Police Department Recover a 2006 Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor One in Custody

The owner of a 2006 Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor, a construction company, confines of the 107 precinct called to report their Ingersoll Rand air compressor missing from a job site after the work week was done, the machine had been left at the job-site which was located in the Kew Gardens section of Queens. Officers from the 107^th precinct verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ingersoll Rand. This was done both seamlessly and automatically.

A short time later Patrol Officers from the Richmond Hill section of Queens, confines of the 102 precinct, picked up the silent signal from the stolen compressor with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the officers tracked and located the air compressor as it was being towed by a construction dump truck. The truck was eventually pulled over and the driver was questioned. He stated he had rented the machine but could not supply any paper work or proof that he had done such. He was immediately placed under arrest. Police investigation continues.

The Ingersoll Rand air compressor was recovered with no damage. The owner was notified, and he was elated that his air compressor was recovered so quickly.

The LoJack unit was installed in the Ingersoll Rand in June 2007 by a commercial customer in Yonkers, New York.
