The owners of a 2005 Toyota Tundra contacted the Garden Grove Police Department to report their vehicle had been stolen.   Garden Grove PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota to the city of Hawthorne.  The deputies found the Toyota mobile with one occupant.  The deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the Toyota but the driver fled.  The deputies initiated a pursuit which led them to the freeway.  After the pursuit entered the freeway the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s contacted the California Highway Patrol to assist. California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit as it continued on multiple freeways.  The pursuit lasted about two hours and traveled over several freeways and surface streets throughout Los Angeles County.  Fortunately the driver stopped on a residential street in the city of Bellflower without ever colliding with another vehicle.  A short standoff ensued before the officers were able to safely take the driver into custody.  The driver will be charged with vehicle theft, felony evading and other charges.  The undamaged Toyota was recovered by the CHP.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Tundra in March 2005 at Toyota Place, Garden Grove CA.
