The owners of a 2017 Honda Accord contacted the Springfield Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.
The
Springfield Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and
federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.
One (1) minute after the
vehicle had been entered into the police computer as a stolen vehicle, troopers
from the Massachusetts State Police began picking up the silent LoJack signal
from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are
installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.
Shortly thereafter, the Springfield Police Department officers also
began picking up the signal as well. Following
the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers from Springfield
were able to track the vehicle to a residential address in their city and
recovered the unoccupied vehicle..
The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in June of 2017 at Balise
Honda in West Springfield, MA.
