The owner of a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet Silverado.

Approximately Ten minutes after the activation, officers with the Rio Rancho Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Silverado with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the LoJack signal to the area of Unser and Westside.

The stolen Silverado was located in a parking lot and appeared to be unoccupied.  Officers initiated surveillance on the Silverado to see if the offender(s) would return.  After a short time, officers observed a female subject approach the Silverado and contact was made with her.  Officers notified the reporting party and she arrived on scene.  The Silverado was recovered and returned to the reporting party at the scene.  The details of the recovery were subsequently forwarded to Albuquerque PD.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Silverado in May 2016 at Galles Chevrolet in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
