United BMW of Roswell reported to Roswell Police that one of their vehicles had been loaned to a customer while their vehicle was in the shop. The vehicle was loaned out four months ago in October when the customer brought their vehicle in for service. The customer’s vehicle was repaired a short time later and attempts to have the customer return the loaner and pick up their vehicle have failed. Roswell Police were called and a Police report was made as to the vehicle ow being stolen by the customer.

Roswell Police verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers.  This routine action automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the stolen BMW.

A short time later an Officer from East Point Police picked up the silent LoJack signals from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. That Officer was able to locate the stolen vehicle parked in a garage at residence in the City of East Point. The vehicle was in possession of the original customer who stated that she had not been requested to return the vehicle and was unaware her car was ready. The two Police departments are working together to investigate the suspect and bring charges against her. The vehicle was recovered and returned to the dealership.

Total time to locate the vehicle was one hour thirty-two minutes.

The LoJack Unit was installed at United BMW of Roswell in January 2018.
