The owner of a 1999 Toyota 4Runner contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota 4Runner.

Shortly after the activation, officers with the Albuquerque Police Department flight deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office in Metro1 picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the LoJack signal to the area of Juan Tabo and Menaul.

Officers located the Toyota in a shopping center parking lot and the Toyota was no longer occupied.  Officers conducted a search for the offender with assistance from Metro1.  The offender attempted to hide from the long arm of the law but was located and taken into custody.  The Toyota was recovered, processed for evidence and will be released back to the owner. The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota 4Runner in May of 1999 at Elmore Toyota in Westminster, California
